"Bookmarks of the Java Pros"

This month the Recruiter’s Corner decided to again probe the minds of some local Java professionals to see what they are reading. I pinged a handful of senior folks and here is a list that I compiled from their recommendations – some obvious, some new to me.
Java-specific sites:
TheServerSide.com – It’s no secret that this is the biggest player in Java news, and it was the only unanimous answer.
OnJava.com – from O’Reilly Publishing, a nice array of stuff here
InfoQ – when Floyd left TSS he helped to found InfoQ. Channels on Java and Agile tend to be quite active, with some obvious overlap with TSS.
Javalobby.org – (now part of DZone) – a very active all Java site
Dr. Dobb’s – several channels including Java, databases, design, web dev
Artima Developer – Tech articles, news, blogs, heavily geared towards Java
JavaWorld – the name says it all – less frequent news than many other sites but decent in-depth technical articles
Java.net Editor’s Daily Blog – a nice mix of Sun events and links to other blogs and articles of interest. Java.net includes lots of content with links to other blogs and forums
JDJ – the Java Developer’s Journal has a good amount of articles and some news feeds and editorials
JavaPosse – has a pretty popular podcast and posts some news pieces on the site as well
General software sites:
10x Software Development – Steve McConnell’s blog isn’t specific to Java but geared towards productivity, management, development methodology
Joel on Software – general blog on software development, management, and business (mentioned multiple times as a favorite)
DZone – has various articles and news on Java (Javalobby) and other tech interests
TechCrunch – profiles new web technologies and companies
Lamdba – a blog about programming languages and language research
TheDailyWTF (worse than failure) – a bit of IT humor around things going bad
A couple recommendations came in for reading business papers and sites such as the Wall Street Journal to stay in tune with trends and markets and not just code.
Did we miss any you recommend? I’ll post a follow-up if we get some interesting replies.
Thanks to all of you who sent me your input!
